The fleet of general aviation aircraft is aging. Mandated mainenance promotes reliability, but experienced pilots know mechanical issues can still arise, sometimes far from an open FBO. Our Pilot's Tool Kit provides the most common tools and other contents to help get you airborne, including a set of combination wrenches, 8" adjustable wrench, tire pressure gauge, locking pliers, 6-in-1 screwdriver, hex wrenches, and diagonal cutters. A special aviation spark plug socket (also available separately) handles most spark plug makes, and a way-cool mini-ratchet and socket set provide additional utility. Finally, a telescopic mirror, cable ties, and 30 feet of aviation-grade safety wire are included. Everything is nicely organized into a tough roll-up pouch.
Our PTK1 is the ultimate Pilot's Tool Kit, but for those with space, weight, or budget concerns our new SPEEDKIT Aero is for you. It provides the most essential tools in an affordable and compact package. Included are three combination wrenches, three hex wrenches, a 5-in-1 screwdriver, 11/32" nut driver, tire pressure gauge, and our highly competent diagonal cutters. Everything is housed in a durable textile pouch with extra room for additional items as needed. Weighing in less than a pound (2 kg.) and measuring only 7" x 2" x 2", even Cub owners can find a place for the SPEEDKIT.
Aviation spark plugs have special needs. They use a non-standard 7/8" hex, and exhaust manifolds can get in the way of wrench access. A thin-wall socket is necessary for many applications. And to ensure compatibility with all makes of plugs including Champion and Tempest, a deep well is called for. Our sockets meets these needs, with a combo hex and 3/8" drive for additional flexibility. Pro-quality.
The TirePro gauge has a 12" flexible hose that makes even hard-to-get-to valves less of a task. Readings are held until released, and a built-in valve lets you "bleed" down to the desired pressure. Readings are in psi and kPa, and the dial is protected by a rubber boot.
Readings are shown to 0.1 psi levels, with bar, Kpa, and Kg-cm2 scales also provided. An ergonomic shape fits nicely in your hand.
Developed for guitar and bass strings made of hardened stainless steel or nickel, these cutters also work great in aviation. Ordinary diagonal cutters are designed for soft copper, and thus fail miserably when used on harder metals. GrooveTech Cutters use a proprietary heat-treatment process for confident cuts. Their compact 120mm length and vinyl grips feel great in your hands.
