The 9G kneeboard was developed by the original owner of Hendricks Sewing Co. in the mid-1990s.  It was flight tested at Eglin AFB on F-15 fighter jets and that's where the kneeboard got its name: even at 9G acceleration, the kneeboard stayed in place. It has also survived numerous emergency ejections and has remained on the pilot's knee.
